We’re pleased to confirm that the Earls Gate Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility officially entered full operations in March 2024, following the successful completion of commissioning and handover.

Located in Grangemouth, the facility is now processing up to 274,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste per year, converting it into low-carbon electricity and steam. This energy is used to power local homes and businesses, while also supporting the steam demands of nearby industrial users in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

The transition into operational phase marks a key milestone for the project, reflecting years of development, construction, and testing. Our focus now turns to long-term performance - maintaining high standards of environmental compliance, operational reliability, and safety across the site.

We’d like to thank everyone involved in bringing Earls Gate into service - and we look forward to delivering on the plant’s full potential in the years ahead.
