We’re pleased to announce that our Inchbean Farm Battery Storage Project was granted consent on 19 June 2025. This is an important milestone for the project and for Scotland’s journey to a more resilient, low-carbon energy system.

Located just outside Kilmarnock, the 60 MW battery facility will store 120MW hours of energy. The scheme will be connected to the local distribution grid and will store and release energy to Kilmarnock’s local network when it’s needed most. The system will help to balance supply and demand, smooth out intermittent renewable generation and support the stability of the local electricity network.

Our in-house team, Brockwell Energy Services will manage the delivery of the project with the support of top tier contractors and leading OEMs’. The 12-month construction programme is expected to commence in Q1 2026.

As with all our projects, every effort will be made to minimise disruption to neighbouring properties during the construction phase. Further, we will work closely with East Ayrshire Council and other construction projects in the area to minimise the potential of any disruption caused by construction traffic.

A Forward-Looking Energy Solution

Battery storage projects like Inchbean Farm are at the heart of the UK’s energy transition and support delivery of the governments Clean Power 2030 plan. As we generate more power from wind and solar, smart storage becomes essential. This facility will help ensure that clean energy isn’t wasted, and that communities and businesses have access to a stable network providing reliable, affordable power even during peak demand.

Designed with Care

The project has been carefully designed with the local environment and neighbouring properties in mind. A full package of environmental and landscaping measures will ensure the site’s landscape and visual and residential amenity impacts are minimised.

Once constructed we are confident the site will quickly become fully screened and appear as part of the existing infrastructure at Inchbean Farm.

Looking Ahead

Brockwell has invested in and delivered over £900m of clean energy projects. Inchbean Farm adds to our growing portfolio across the UK, helping to build a smarter, greener, and more secure energy network.
