Brockwell Energy has submitted a planning application to the Scottish Ministers for Breezy Hill Windfarm - a new development in East Ayrshire, located near our flagship North Kyle site.
The project will comprise 20 wind turbines (up to 149.9m tip height) and battery storage, generating enough low-carbon electricity to power over 80,000 homes and cut around 56,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year.
Breezy Hill is expected to deliver a major economic boost - supporting jobs and injecting millions in Gross Value Added (GVA) into both the local area and wider Scottish economy during construction and operation. It will also contribute at least £400,000 annually in index-linked community benefits, forming part of a £100 million package across our East Ayrshire projects.
The scheme has been shaped through extensive consultation with local stakeholders and Forestry and Land Scotland, and carefully designed to balance environmental, visual, and technical factors. It also continues Brockwell’s work to regenerate former mining land, committing to a minimum 25% biodiversity gain through forest-to-bog restoration and native planting.
With strong community backing, we’re exploring an early release of community benefit funds to deliver a visitor and recreation hub on site - including a welcome centre, bike hire, lochside access, and facilities for walking, cycling, and water sports.
Breezy Hill marks another important step in our mission to deliver clean energy, community value, and lasting environmental regeneration.
