Dalfad Wind Farm

Dalfad Wind Farm is a proposed 80-megawatt (80MW) wind farm development situated on the former Dalfad Mine in East Ayrshire, Scotland

Project overview

Restoring the land, powering the future

The Dalfad Wind Farm will generate clean, renewable energy for export to the national electricity grid, supporting homes and businesses across Scotland and the UK. The development of new renewable energy sources is a key component of the fight against climate change and will help to ensure our energy independence at a time of significant international uncertainty. Onshore wind offers a proven and cost-effective source of energy for the UK economy.

The project will support the restoration of the former Dalfad and Duncanziemere opencast mine, building on Brockwell Energy’s successful North Kyle project where significant restoration improvement was delivered to mine sites in the former Chalmerston surface coal mining complex. Brockwell will work with the sites’ owners to deliver restoration, ecological enhancement and improved long term public access to benefits for the local community.

The assessment considers visual impact, ecology, heritage, traffic, and other key environmental factors. With a strong commitment to minimising impacts and respecting the surrounding landscape, we are working to ensure the project is designed to the highest environmental standards. A planning application will be submitted to the Scottish Government in Q2 2026.
