Dolphingstone Farm BESS

Dolphingstone Farm BESS is a consented 63 MW facility, to be located on land at Dolphingstone Farm, Tranent.

Project overview

Smart energy storage for a low-carbon tomorrow

Dolphingstone Farm BESS was identified following an extensive site selection process which considers environmental designations, local electricity network access and capacity, the physical characteristics of the site and the need for a supportive landowner.

Once operational, Dolphingstone BESS will make a valuable contribution towards tackling the climate emergency in Tranent, and wider area, by providing balancing services to maintain a cleaner, greener and cheaper energy supply.

Access to the site for construction would be via Johnnie Cope’s Road, from the South. Our plans will also include landscape planting and improvements to biodiversity which will assist in screening the development and encouraging additional wildlife to the site.

Environmental focus

Inchbean Farm BESS is being developed with a strong focus on environmental responsibility. Brockwell Energy is committed to minimising any potential impact on the surrounding landscape, biodiversity, local heritage, traffic, and noise. The site has been carefully selected to make use of existing infrastructure and is set within a natural dip in the landform to reduce visual impact. The project will include thoughtful landscaping to enhance local ecology and a robust Flood Risk and Drainage Strategy to ensure safe and sustainable water management. Every aspect of the development reflects our goal of delivering clean energy infrastructure in a way that respects and supports the local environment.

  • Community engagement & benefits

At Dolphingstone Farm, we’re focused on delivering clean energy in a way that creates genuine, long-term value for the local area. This project is about more than energy storage, it’s about making a positive and lasting contribution to the community through:

    • Community Investment - We’re committed to supporting local initiatives by making funding available for projects that reflect the priorities and ambitions of nearby residents.

    • Local Economic Boost - From construction through to ongoing operations, the project will create opportunities for local contractors, trades, and service providers - supporting jobs and skills in the region.

    • Environmental Enhancements - We’ve built in measures to enhance local biodiversity, including sensitive landscaping and habitat creation, helping ensure the project leaves a meaningful environmental legacy.

The public consultation on the proposals ran from Saturday 12 August 2023 until Saturday 26 August 2023.
