Inchbean Farm BESS

Inchbean Farm BESS is a consented 60 MW facility, to be located on land at Inchbean Farm, Kilmarnock.

Project overview

Energy storage for a smarter, greener future

Inchbean Farm BESS was identified following an extensive site selection process which considers environmental designations, local electricity network access and capacity, the physical characteristics of the site and the need for a supportive landowner.

Once operational, Inchbean BESS will make a valuable contribution towards tackling the climate emergency in East Ayrshire, and wider area, by providing balancing services to maintain a cleaner, greener and cheaper energy supply.

Access to the Site for construction would be via Treeswoodhead Road, from the north. Our plans will also include landscape planting and improvements to biodiversity which will assist in screening the development and encouraging additional wildlife to the Site.

Environmental focus

Inchbean Farm BESS is being developed with a strong focus on environmental responsibility. Brockwell Energy is committed to minimising any potential impact on the surrounding landscape, biodiversity, local heritage, traffic, and noise. The site has been carefully selected to make use of existing infrastructure and is set within a natural dip in the landform to reduce visual impact. The project will include thoughtful landscaping to enhance local ecology and a robust Flood Risk and Drainage Strategy to ensure safe and sustainable water management. Every aspect of the development reflects our goal of delivering clean energy infrastructure in a way that respects and supports the local environment.

  • Community engagement & benefits

At Inchbean Farm, we’re committed to creating long-term value for the local community. The project is designed not just to support the UK’s clean energy future, but also to bring meaningful benefits to the surrounding area, including:

    • Community Investment - Funding will be made available to support local projects that align with the needs and aspirations of nearby residents.

    • Local Economic Boost - The project will create opportunities for local contractors, suppliers, and service providers throughout construction and operation.

    • Environmental Enhancements - Through considered habitat creation and landscaping, the project will improve local biodiversity and deliver a lasting positive legacy.

The public consultation on the proposals ran from Saturday 12 August 2023 until Saturday 26 August 2023.
