Brockwell Energy is pleased to announce that planning consent has been granted for the 100MW Peat Dykes Energy Storage project near Wilsden, West Yorkshire.

Located adjacent to the West Bradford Substation, the project is designed to support grid stability and help accelerate the UK's transition to a low-carbon energy system.

The consent follows the recent success of reaching FID on Brockwell's 60MW Inchbean Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Kilmarnock on 26 May 2026, marking another important step in the company's growing energy storage portfolio.

While securing planning consent represents an important achievement for the Peat Dykes project, the next phase of development will be informed by the outcome of NESO's grid queue reform process and confirmation of the project's grid connection arrangements.

Iain Cockburn, Development Director at Brockwell Energy, said:

We are delighted to have secured planning consent for the Peat Dykes Energy Storage project. Battery energy storage has an increasingly important role to play in supporting the UK's electricity network and enabling greater deployment of renewable energy generation.

Achieving consent is an important milestone for the project and reflects the considerable work undertaken by the project team throughout the planning process. We look forward to continuing our engagement with stakeholders as the project progresses and will provide further updates as the position regarding the project's grid connection arrangements becomes clearer.
