The role

We are looking for an Asset Manager to join our team at Brockwell Energy Services, the operations arm of Brockwell Energy. As our battery storage portfolio moves from construction into operations, you will take day to day ownership of the technical, commercial and contractual performance of our operational battery energy storage assets. You will maximise availability, revenue and long term value, hold our O&M and route to market partners to their contractual obligations, and ensure every asset is operated safely and in compliance with its licences, consents and grid obligations.

Key responsibilities

  • Take day to day ownership of the technical and financial performance of your assigned BESS assets, tracking output, availability and cost against budget and forecast
  • Monitor SCADA, BMS and asset management platforms, investigating and escalating underperformance, faults, state of health degradation and data anomalies
  • Manage battery specific performance risks, including capacity fade, round trip efficiency, augmentation and warranty capacity guarantees, and hold OEMs to their guaranteed performance
  • Manage O&M contractors, OEMs and route to market partners, ensuring delivery against contractual KPIs, response times, availability guarantees and trading performance
  • Administer O&M and service contracts, including variations, performance deductions, liquidated damages and formal contractual notices
  • Protect and optimise revenue across all routes to market, ensuring accurate metering, settlement and revenue capture and pursuing recovery of losses from curtailment, grid constraints or equipment failure
  • Produce monthly asset reports covering HSE, availability, commercial performance, key risks and technical issues for internal management and co-investors
  • Support the handover of newly constructed BESS assets into operations, establishing monitoring, maintenance and reporting regimes from day one
  • Ensure compliance with licences, grid connection agreements, consents, land leases and HSE legislation, and liaise with the DNO/TSO on connection compliance, outages and grid code obligations
  • Identify and manage commercial, contractual, market and operational risks across the portfolio, and contribute to life extension and performance enhancement assessments as the fleet matures

About you

  • Degree in Engineering, Energy or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrable asset management experience with operational renewable or flexible generation assets
  • Strong understanding of O&M contracts and contractor management
  • Sound commercial understanding of GB electricity markets and battery route to market structures (wholesale, Balancing Mechanism, ancillary services and Capacity Market)
  • Confident interpreting SCADA and asset monitoring data to identify and resolve underperformance
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage contractors, investors, advisors and senior management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, and competent with Power BI or equivalent reporting tools
  • Direct experience of battery storage operations, including BMS/EMS, degradation and augmentation management, is desirable
  • Working knowledge of grid codes, connection agreements, metering, settlement and OEM performance guarantees and warranties is desirable
